Quality Software is Crucial
The performance of your engine is controlled by software, if the settings in that software are wrong your vehicle will not work effectively and may even stop working altogether.
Although the software is hosted on your vehicles computer (ECU) engine control unit, the computer itself is just hardware, the clever bit is the software.
A remap by any name, involves the reprogramming of your engine management system software.
The Quality of the software file is everything, the difference between a bad file and a good one really is chalk and cheese.
As the vehicle owner, it is impossible for you to tell what a good file is and what is a bad file, unfortunately the difference is undetectable until in some cases it is too late.
One remap file is not the same as another!
Imagine going to a doctor for an injection (you have to agree to the injection based on trust, because you really have no idea what they are injecting you with)
The same applies to your vehicle and the quality of the software file injected into the brain (ECU) of your car.
At the doctors, if the wrong medication is injected it will make you better, make you ill or in the worst case kill you.
Doctors go through years of training before they are allowed to get anywhere near you, but in the tuning industry a complete novice can setup as a tuner by buying cheap tools and software files from an unknown source off the internet.
With the amount of novice tuners setting up all the time, having your car tuned can be a gamble, so make sure you use a well established, registered and reputable company otherwise you could be left with a poorly or dead vehicle.
